This archive is a catalogue, not a photographic library. 5,144 of its 7,551 formations have no photograph at all — most of them are one drawn diagram, a date and a place — and 2,407 have at least one. A gallery of all 7,551 would therefore be 68 per cent drawings, so this page is the photographed ones and says so in its title.

2,407 formations have a photograph in the archive and 2,406 of them are here. The one that is not is held back a picture at a time rather than a site at a time: the only photographs the archive holds of it are somebody else's work, and nobody has given this archive permission to republish them.

Every photograph here belongs to the photographer credited beside it, and is shown for non-commercial research and reference with a link to the page it was published on. This build draws on every source in the archive.
