This formation appeared over the summer solstice weekend at Uffcott – not too far from Hackpen Hill in Wiltshire. It measures approximately 100ft in diameter and is in a field of barley. This circle looked beautiful in the landscape, especially when the emerald green of the barley field and the periwinkle blue of the sky met. Such beauty, had an enchanting effect on the psyche as we flew over.
The design is quite remarkable and certainly original. While I’ve seen it described as messy elsewhere on the internet nothing could be further from the truth! The design is unconventional yes, but it was executed extremely well. This formation combines the numbers five and six beautifully. Six interlocking rings around the central circle and five concentric rings. The pattern is simply picked form this geometric framework – all be it in a unconventional way. From Blackhorse Lane, UK to Groziethen, Germany: An Epic Saga
When I reviewed the set of crop circle images reported from June 16th through to June 22nd, I couldn’t help but feel that these images, in the sequence they were reported, compose a sort of graphic running commentary about what is happening to Earth in this time. The comments of John of CA about the Ravenna and the Westwoods formations are what triggered my thought. I was actually contemplating the Green Street formation as I perused what had been said about the formations in June so far. It seems to me that the six formations: Blackhorse Lane, Green Street, Ravenna, Westwoods, Uffcott and Groziethen together tell a beautiful story in the life our changing planet!

This formation is one of the most geometrically challenging of the season so far. Novel, innovative and original – in the way in which the pattern is picked from its geometric framework. The diameter of the central circle becomes the radius of six larger circles which are drawn around the central circle using its perimeter as their centres. Five equally spaced concentric rings are then drawn around the central circle and it is from this framework (see image (1) below) that the entire pattern is picked. In Image (2) I have cross hatched the standing parts of the design, and removed the superfluous lines so that the pattern becomes clear. One consequence of this framework and the picked out pattern is that it creates three distinct spirals – see image(4). This asymmetrical Uffcott formation is an accurate representation of a particular type of English Rose in the way the arrangements of the multi-petalled flowers are depicted. It is perhaps presented as a gift to all appreciative ‘Croppies’. A nice friendly gesture from those “Out There”.

We did speak to our dear friend James Hussey, the farmer of this CC field at Uffcott. He informed us that his wife Gill had sadly passed away last November and wished for all donations to go direct to The Radiotherapy Unit at Great Western Hospital via the links given here; Gill Hussey is fundraising on Just Giving for The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund rather than through any other fundraising agencies. Alternatively, any groups that wish to visit this CC should bring donations (larger amounts) direct to him in person at the farm, others to leave a generous donation of at least £3 per head in the secure box provided within the CC. James told us any future CC he has on his land can be managed by CGI to raise funds for this worthwhile cause. We feel our presence is not so needed on this occasion.

Paul Jacobs of the CGI team are successfully managing the crop circle, as one can see from the photos (the insert is also of James Hussey the farmer who helps administer his late wife's charity appeal). Visitors to Wiltshire can visit this crop circle and support this charity which is at Uffcott, near Wroughton, Wiltshire, UK. Reported on the 22nd of June, 2015. Paul's comment - 'High spirits here at The Rose CC. Working for 'Brighter Futures' charity with farmer James helping to raise funding for the new Radiotherapy Unit at Swindon.
